Welcome to the world of WordPress. This HTML system can be as simple or as complicated as you choose. Everything about WordPress is configurable. The very installation of WordPress can be accomplished in a multitude of ways.
There are a few ways to install WordPress. We recommend using the Installatron software that’s included with Cherry Host’s cPanel interface. Doing so will configure automatic backups, rollbacks & upgrades for WordPress.
You can review those instructions in the article WordPress Installation.
WordPress site control
Managing a WordPress site is going to vary in intricacy. However, you have a few jobs that must be handled, like backups, updates, security & performance. Not taking care of these items will bring headaches down the road in the form of broken site pages and non-secure data transmissions.
Having your data backed up at multiple locations is paramount. Cherry Host backs up shared hosting accounts every night, but it never hurts to have more than one back up. Review the cPanel backups article for more information.
Updates can be performed in two different locations with Cherry Host. Both are completed in the cPanel interface. Depending on the type of installation completed will determine where the updates performed. You would use Installatron to update WordPress, or while logged into your WordPress account you would update from the dashboard. You can find instructions here.
WordPress & SSL
It’s 2019, and Google Chrome and other web browsers report when a site does not have an SSL. So the bottom line is if you do not want to see traffic lost then you will need an SSL. Cherry Host provides this free of charge for every shared hosting account.
