Today we are going to show you how to change your password for your e-mail account in cPanel.
NOTE: If you are new to cPanel’s email creation and management, head over to our “Setup an Email Account in cPanel” article.
Starting off we will assume you are already in cPanel’s e-mail accounts section. From here you will have your list of e-mail accounts that you have full management capabilities over.
The following buttons you will be interested in are as follows: ‘Check Email’, ‘Manage’, and ‘Connect Devices’.
Check Email – Allows you to, of course, check the email of the listed account
Manage – This section allows you to change everything from passwords, directory size, and whether or not to suspend different functions of the account.
Connect Devices – You are provided with a comprehensive list of settings and port numbers to connect personal devices such as cell phones to your email so you don’t always have to use the online web inbox.
Now with that out of the way lets update the password for your e-mail account using the Manage section.
- Click on ‘Manage’.
- Go to the section ‘Security’
- In the text box that says, ‘Enter Password’, enter in the new password you wish to use.
WARNING: If you click ‘Delete Email Account’ instead of ‘Update Email Settings’ thankfully you will not immediately delete the account. If you DO click ‘Delete’ instead of ‘Cancel’, that appears afterwards, you WILL delete the account and lose all emails associated with this address.
- Scroll down to ‘Update Email Settings’
- Click that and immediately (try to log into the email account) verify your password is functioning.
